INTERFORM ASSEMBLY
ART & FASHION BIENNIAL JUNE 2023
CURATED BY AMY TERRY
SPRINGDALE, AR
INTERFORM ASSEMBLY is the first of its kind, a community engaged, curatorial training program and regional open call exhibition.
Sometimes passive, sometimes active. Internal and external. Predominantly personal but necessary publicly. Empathy is both feeling and doing. It allows us to relate and connect with others, understanding their struggles and perspectives. A lack of it can result in apathy, narcissism, and even cruelty. This show examines and encourages empathy for individuals & ourselves (who we are) and actions that should outflow (what we do).
Cake is a thoughtful confrontation of society’s lack of empathy using a host of connected themes like greed, over-consumption, materialism, and waste. The exhibit juxtaposes beauty and luxury with realism, with an eye to the future, challenging the viewer to consider their own perspectives and make small changes.
This work is a reimagination of the piece, “The Game of Chess” by Francesco Beda. Acquired at an estate sale, this piece looks keenly at the participants of the game of life, and the bourgeoisie fantasy only attainable to the few.

New Money
Money earned, money spent, money wasted
Cut from the pages of fashion magazines, these clippings are ravenously consumed and discarded; such is the American culture of consumption. New money is meant to be spent. This deliciously pink piece reckons with the idea that our appetite can never be satiated.

The model smiles through glasses oozing diamonds. She cannot see past the glimmer. Can we see past ourselves?

Whimsy and delight burst forth in this piece, calling upon imagery of the Mad Hatter. This Burberry advert was repurposed from the pages of a fashion magazine to create something entirely new.
